I just learned that a classy and classic icon of Boston advertising passed away this past Sunday. Anyone who listened to radio or worked in advertising in the Boston area knew of, and if they were lucky knew, Ray Welch.

As an engineer I had the pleasure of working with him frequently, and of putting together one of his VO demos years ago and I'll always remember his opening line on the demo where he described his voice as having a "...range from A, almost all the way to B."
