|
|
Hi All!
OK...I know about IVR...I know about Narration....Commercials...done those.
BUT: I have never done Radio/TV Imaging/Station ID's.
I've passed on any audition that comes up for that style, 'cause I'm not even sure what to quote or even HOW to do 'em (I HAVE noted that you're not supposed to "Puke" 'em!)
So: What advice do you all have for this type of work?
Where can I find info and/or samples
Do any of your websites have samples I can listen to?
...I guess I need to start listening to something other than NPR!
As usual you all ROCK!

I'm not going to be a tremendous amount of help, other than to say that's a niche I have no intention of filling, It seems to be filled with ex-radio jocks who want to go into VO. In other words, the competition is fierce. _________________ Jeff

None taken. I laughed when I read it. It's true though. Most of the best imaging guys and gals (in my humble opinion) are ex radio peeps and a few of them are on this board. _________________ Hart Voice Overs Blog

Most of my imaging is for light rock and country stations, believe it or not.
Delivery depends on the format.
Brian's right about where to find demos. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

I do them too and samples are on my page as well. We had an example of what was done for Kazbah on Freedom Radio somewhere around here. Every time you hear an ID on TV...or PBS...or hear a produced line or two for a feature on radio...that's a promo. If your agent is booking you for ID's they may feel that your voice is right. If you're passing on them yourself, you might want to branch out and listen to some stations in your market and hear what they are doing.
Also, I just read the words and others produce them and make them sound groovy. There are very talented voiceover AND producers on this board who do it all. I have had the pleasure of working with Todd Ellis and Peter O'Connell. You might want to check them out. I'm sure others will post. Good luck! |

UNbelieveable!
30 mintes and I already have tons of info!
Thanks so much!
Todd? Peter? Any thoughts from the "experts?"
EDIT for an extra question: How do you quote on these jobs?
Per word?
Per liner?
Per Page?

I'm hoping someone I'm working with will post an imaging demo that I'm working with her on, but I'll leave her anonymous and let her out herself.
Pricing.
Every talent I ever worked with uses either a 12 or 24 month contract. I use a 12 month one with my clients. X dollars per month on retainer for a set amount of pages. X amount of dollars per page after that amount. Pricing varies on the market size as well. _________________ Hart Voice Overs Blog

Liz,
If you have initial concerns about working in the multi-multi track, multi-special effects world of broadcast imaging, I heartily recommend you ask Brian Hart for help. Even if you record the imagining lines dry and send them to him to produce your demo, the outcome should impress the best.
I have a good buddy in this market that produces some of the best I've worked with, but after meeting Brian and hearing his work process, I'll be sending my stuff to him to turn-key it for me.

What constitutes a "page" of liners for you Brian?
20 lines?
25? _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Here is my newest Hot/Semi Hot Country Demo that I (re)voiced and produced not too long ago. Still pulling stuff out of it and rearranging some till it is just the way I want...then it will be sent out.
