James Taylor was a guest on Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion" JT just gets better and better.

So much talent on that show anyway. Enjoy!

Remaining off topic: I love James Taylor. My son, when he was 2 years old was completely entranced watching JT on VH1's first episode of "Stoytellers" about 10 years ago, so much so that when it went to commercial, he began to cry and asked me why the music went off....

He is a national treasure. Yes, his music hasn't changed much over the years, but there are few voices as distinct and downright beautiful as his in the field....

Plus, he gave me these words:

Hold tight to your heart's desire
Never ever let it go
Don't let nobody fool you into giving it up too soon
Tend your own fire
Lay low and be strong
Wait a while....it will come along

We usually go to the Tanglewood performance of PHC but didn't make it this year nor were we near a radio last night. Now I'm kicking myself. Will try to catch the rebroadcast today. Thanks for the alert Bill! Did you see the tribute to JT on PBS the other night?

Mary,
Was that a repeat of a show earlier this year? Of course, our PBS in Georgia is so poor they just play old Three Stooges episodes until they raise enough money to rejoin the network.

GWIII,
That's a great CD! Aren't lyrics great?! James' brother, Livingston, used to record here in Macon in the 70's. Did a couple of albums with Capricorn. Sounded very much like James. He wrote great words too. You've got great pipes yourself! Thanks for sharing.

I got to meet Livingston Taylor back in my radio DJ days and I got to introduce acts that played in town. He was incredibly charming, and he got a member of the audience to sing with him in a duet he recorded with James.

Not much to add, just feelin' chatty:

PHC: Love it. Seeing it live is a goal of mine.

JT: Love him. Already saw live once.

Threadjack: So maybe he doesn't look too hot in a tux (or ever), but Lyle Lovett is my favorite musician. Saw live 3 times.

VO-BB: LOVE IT!!

Luckily enough I got to hear a few minutes of JT on PHC just a little while ago when I ran up to the gas station. Very cool.

brian - same thing happened to me - getting a load of mulch - and managed to listen to a good bit of the show --- one of the best PHCs ever!

I guess I screwed up then. I got my mulch this morning and caught the replay of Wait Wait. I heard all of it yesterday.

If you missed it you can listen to it on their archive page:

http://prairiehome.publicradio.org/programs/

Shows are available on the Monday after the show's original broadcast.

Speaking of "Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me" I download each week's show by podcast and load it into my iPod. Instead of groovin' down the road for my morning walk, I'm often seen having spasms of laughter. I'm sure it looks pretty weird to passersby, but I don't care. It's a great companion on those walks.
