Can anyone tell me the best way to capture streaming audio? I've got an online clip I voiced and want to record it. I just downlaoded WireTap Pro by Ambrosia and but can't seem to get the settings right to record. Is anyone using this aHobo Tounge? Or can suggest another way? I'm using Mac OSX and an Mbox. Thanks!

I've been using Audio Hijack Pro for a couple of years, and I love it.

For PC, you may use your normal audio application.

If you can playback audio from a CD or the internet, you can also record it into your application.

You sure about that, Frank? There's no way to specify that channel in the windows mixer. I'm able to do it through a "what u Hear" channel in the windows mixer, but that's specific to my audigy soundcard.

Can you give more detail as to how you do it?

My audio comes into my MOTU 828 MKII. ALL AUDIO! including CD, DVD, Quicktime, RealAudio, internet, etc is routed to my "main mix" (input: one and two). If I can hear the audio, I can record the audio.

ah, ok, that assumes one has a mixer. For those of us who don't, the solution is not so clear.

There is a program for Windows named Total Recorder which is great for making WAV files from anything you playback on your computer. I've used it for years and the cost is only $17.95. Hope this helps.

Gents,

I just gave the Free Hi-Q Recorder a quick spin and was able to capture a stream just fine. It lets you select the audio device and channel you want to record and it also gives you a few options for output.

After the 5 minutes I spent downloading, installing and testing it, I'd have to say it's worth checking out. Smile

I just crank up CoolEditPro (Audition)...hit record...then whatever I'm listening to gets recorded.
