My Telos unit is going in for repair.
Today was a full-tilt thrash. _________________ DBCooperVO.com |

Deirdre,
I'm so sorry to hear of your ongoing troubles. I had my ISDN lines go down (not the unit, the actual service from the phone company) a couple of weeks ago...right as I was scheduled to do a national radio campaign for a health insurance company.
Thanks for our dear friend Kara Edwards, I was able to find an ISDN studio in Charlotte to use and happily paid for the hour out of my own pocket. It was totally worth it.
But, it's always a pain when technology fails us, whatever the source. May things improve for you quickly. (Thankfully, the phone company was able to restore my service in just a couple of days. They just had to replace a card in their central office.) _________________ Be well,

I was soundsly scolded by the guys at Telos for having the fan undone. The unti was from another VO guy-- who the hell keeps the fan live in their codec if it's in their studio?
I turn it on, use it, and turn it off.
It's racked in a was the has mega airflow top and bottom and back.
When it returns from the shop, I'll take the top off as well. _________________ DBCooperVO.com |

That's weird. I talked fans with Telos at one point and they were pretty indifferent. They said it'd be a good idea but alot of people go without them if the area is well ventilated. My first unit didn't have a fan but the second unit did.
The unit runs a lot hotter (obviously) without one but if you only use it once in awhile and turn it off in between, no biggie. I like the piece of mind that comes with having a fan. Having a mic nearby though is tough, I'd agree. The new vocal booth I'm building should keep that bit of extra noise away from the mic. _________________ Joe Szymanski

Mine still has the fan. I guess where it's located, in relation to the mic, makes all the difference. I never hear it poking thru in recording...never had a producer say anything about fan noise either.
Mark Driscoll used to have a front panel mounted fan switch. Leave the fan on when the mic's off...kill it when the mic's hot. _________________ Wicked huge.....in India.
