i've got a 1402 vlz pro. could all the xlr inputs go south at the same time?

i lost the ability to RECORD today, suddenly. i went through my cables (most xlr to xlr, 1 xlr to trs), various combos of inputs on the board, tested a couple of mics, did some soundcard checks, investigated record/play settings, etc.
jarring silence. no record input.

but i continued to keep on persevering ! and selected my newest cable to try, again, in all xlr inputs and so on and so forth and somehow, after some wiggling i've got sweet sound again.

wtf? to my original Q: could all those inputs be suddenly, uh, problematic? like, broken?

Make sure your MAIN MIX button is pressed and your ASSIGN TO MAIN MIX is not.
Over by the master volume.

Diane,

That could explain why you couldn't hear anything. The Alt 3-4 button switches to an alternate bus fed by the "mute/alt3-4" buttons on your mixer.
