Hello all! I just signed up for the site yesterday after a couple months of lurking and have been very impressed by how helpful everyone is around here. Since it's a slow time of the year for most of us, I figured now would be a good time to ask anyone with a spare moment to check out my demos and website: www.ricevoice.com

Aside from a critique of any of the demos, I'd also welcome any feedback regarding the website itself. I wanted to keep it basic and have the demos right up front, but I'm wondering if the basic-ness of the layout and graphics would turn off potential clients.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to look and listen!

Just a quick welcome, Chris. I visited your website and listened to your Commercial demo. I will leave critique-ing to others more qualified in this area to provide you with helpful advice. But I do believe you will benefit immensely, as I have, from the talented and generous people you will encounter on this forum. Best wishes for the New Year from the resident w.a.

...and, yay....a "mic" graphic!

I'm not too qualified to give in depth critique, but my first thoughts when listening to the commercial reel:

1) It's about 30 seconds too long
2) Most of the spots sound the same, and some of them sound like radio imaging instead of commercials. The Doritos spot comes to mind. I'd like to hear some more variation.

Best of luck, I hope you get some more feedback.

I'll echo Jeffery's comments about length (:60 max) and variety.

My only other comment is on your website. It's what I tell all of my clients... Put the phone number up top and make it BIGGER!

The phone number is your (potential) clients' best way to contact you. Make it easy to find.

My 2˘.

After reviewing your commercial and imaging demos, I dropped down and saw Jeff and Dave’s reviews. I'll have to go along with the pack.

The voice used for imaging was the same as used for the commercial... probably not bad if it is bringing in the coin. But some commercial demos will show variety from both ends of the spectrum. This is necessary because potential clients are not all the same... neither are they looking for the same type of delivery. As mentioned by Jeff and Dave... variety IS necessary. Plus... take it off the freeway and onto the side streets. (Huh?) Show some variety in the imaging demos... throw in a few with less "puking", a few "easy listening", and some "middle of the road".

And again... try to keep demos to a 60 second maximum... put your BEST stuff up front. The first 10 seconds of your demo has got to grab them.

I think you've got a great voice, but you need to showcase your full potential to every client.
