|
|
The Studio Projects B-1 is a side-address mic, correct? I was touring a studio last week, and they were using a B-1, but it was set up as a top-address (like an RE20). I just wanted to verify this for a friend who works there.
Thanks,
Steve |

Wow, that's odd. It sure sounds better as a side address. |

Thanks, Don. Yup, odd is right, but I went to another studio a few years back that tried to use the RE20 as a side address mic. |

Did you notice on the Australian VO video that they were using a Rode model I thought was side-address straight-on? That's one sure way to make sure the talent is talking "across mic."
Let's try it and hear. _________________ Wild Willie Edwards

Okay, so how are you supposed to know if a mic is 'top address' or 'side address'? Intuit it? I just looked at my mic's docuemtation (Rode NT1000) and it doesn't address () this issue. _________________ Elaine

Ms. Singer,
First of all, your fabulous Rode NT1000 is a large diaphram side-address condenser mic. ( And you sound so good on it.)
You can usually tell by looking through the grill or mesh at the disc inside.
Hold the mic straight up and down with the mesh at the top.
If you can see the flat round disc facing you--it probably is a side adress.
Visually it is:
O or I equals side address.
_ equals front address.
The other day I was testing my VO Mic Box and when I turned on the mic, it sounded awful. Man, I was horrified....until I realized I had put the mic in the box backwards. _________________ Wild Willie Edwards

IIRC, not all (but most) R0de mics are side address.
I think the podcaster is the lone wolf. _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

Not only is the B-1 side address but you should speak into the appropriate side. <g> That would be the one with the Studio Project logo. (Ditto on the C-1.) |
