|
|
Hi there - I would like to convert a Quicktime movie into a WMV file. I have both a PC and a Mac, but don't seem to have any software on either that will do this conversion. What's the best way (or perhaps the least expensive way) to do this? _________________ Playing for a living...

Did you check IFANVIEW?
They can play both... possibly save to/from both. _________________ "Bailey"

It worked Todd - but the quality is pretty bad. For this purpose it will do fine I think. Thanks. Bailey, I'll check out your link too. _________________ Playing for a living...

connie: it may be too much hassle for you, but if you could place that quicktime file where i could download it, i'm pretty sure i could open it in my sony vegas software and re-render it as a wmv, then get it back to you.
i know it's the long way around for a simple request, but if all else fails.... _________________ rowell gormon

Thanks Rowell, First Mate Hart did the deed for me...so I'm all set. I probably should get something to do this though. So recommendations for something that works well, but is reasonably priced would be swell. _________________ Playing for a living...

Travis,
I second that notion about Quicktime Pro. I use it for that very purpose when clients send me little videos...

As a general resource for converting/editing/playing video of any kind, check out:
www.videohelp.com
The HOWTO section of the sidebar has a 'convert' link that'll let you search for articles on converting. There's a button for "Format Conversion" (very long list!) where you can select what you want to convert from/to.
If you don't mind paying a bit, Flip4Mac does MOV to MWV conversion in the Pro suite for $50, and the free Quicktime player plugin will play wmv's in a quicktime window (including the browser-embedded viewer). |
