I received this email on Friday and knew nothing about it in advance:
Quote: | Hi Bruce,
Johnny from Duo Films here regarding the Hyundai CI project. There has been some changes to our plans. So instead of the recording session taking place on 1/25/08 as originally planned, it has been pushed back to 1/26/08, early Saturday morning, Pacific Time. I would like to know if these changes affects your availability in any way.
We will still be in Spain wrapping this project, and the local producer here tells me that the two options for ISDN in Spain is CCP and ATP. Are you familiar with these methods?
Do either one of these changes affect your availability in any way?
We will access the situation based on these changes and the artists availabilities and have a decision within the next day or two.
Thank you for your time, and I will be waiting for your reply.
Best Regards,
Johnny Lee

A fellow voice artist here in town got it too and since she uses me for ISDN service, asked me about it. I just noticed in the Gear section of the Board, Caryn Clark had a question about a job that I'm guessing is the same.
I've replied twice about bridging ISDN to Spain (it ain't cheap) but have yet to hear back from him.
Anybody else get this e-mail? I'll be calling Duo Films (a real firm) this morning to see what I can learn.

Hi there,
Yes, this is the one I'm talking about. I figured they hadn't made their decision yet by the way they worded their email... it was apparent to me it was going out to several people.
I did audition for this gig thru v123 though.

Look at this link http://www.broadcastisdn.net/search_results.php. It appears that several other codec are also used in Spain. Maybe the production house is limited to CCP and APT-X but others are not.
This link looks useful for finding compatible ISDN
Good luck
PS I learn about this yesterday from a SaVoa Board member. They are also on the short list ( if that is what it is ) _________________ Esse quam videri "To be rather than to seem"

This listing does have more detail than the Digifon list, and shows several more MPEG machines in a country that seems to lean heavily on APT-X.
It looks like Musicam is offering a new coded that does both APT and MPEG. If you did a lot of work in APT I imagine you'd save over bridging costs even at a price tag just below 5 G's.

Wow... sounds like Johnny likes the sounds of a number of people! I dunno, I guess if you're able to get him what he wants, and he'll pay you decently for it, why not, right?!
Go with caution! |
