I replaced my printer a month or so ago. Just need it to print scripts and invoices. No more, no less. It's an Epson D92, it sounds like crypt door and is about as reliable as Kakzakstani - Gaelic phrase book.
Suggestions? Apart from a new biro. |

Um, take it back?

Philip,
Unless colour is required, I have had great experiences with the small laser printers from Samsung. _________________ Be well,

Colour is needed because people insist on text in red or highlighted. May be a good colour laser printer? |

Philip,
The HP 2600N Q6455A and the Samsung CLP300 are both highly rated by the folks who've bought and use them through the online retailer NewEgg.com here in the States. They are both colour laser printers that retail for less than $300.00. _________________ Be well,

I've had excellent luck with all of my HP printers. I've got one that's the combo copier/scanner/faxer/photo printer with slots for camera memory chips/tea caddy for something like $130. It's worked fine for two years now. It's a PSC 1350 All-In-One. I'm sure there are similar models out there.

Before you buy, look at the pricing of replacement cartridges/toner. That's really where the cost involved is. You can spend $50.00 for a printer and end up spending $60.00 for a pair of inkjet cartridges. Just be mindful.
Color lasers can be really costly since they normally use 4 different toner cartridges. That normally also means the black cartridge is smaller than one on a B&W laser printer, so you will be replacing it more often.
My recommendation? HP is one of the more reliable and the ink isn't too bad. Get one with duplexing so you can use both sides of the paper and save some trees. _________________ Try to imagine a world where there is no such thing as hypothetical situations.

I have the HP 2600N. My only complaint is that it keeps "forgetting" that it's on the network.
The cost of cartridges is, indeed, a pain. But, the printer is fast and good. _________________ Charter Member: Threadjackers Local 420 |

I've got one of the all in one thingys too. It's a Kodak 5500 fax/copier/printer/scanner with the card reader built in. Very nice and only $99.00. Ink for it will run about $28.00 or so. It uses two tanks, one for color and one for black. It even has the special section in the paper tray for 4x6 phot paper and it makes great photo prints.
Of course, I still have my little HP 3940 DeskJet and it's nice too. |
