I believe I'm going to pick up one of these JK Audio Inline Phone Patches. It appears to have the features I am looking for. I'm just looking for some feedback from anyone that has one or has used one and opinions. _________________ Try to imagine a world where there is no such thing as hypothetical situations.

Bob,
While I don't personally use one, that unit was what we used for many of the phone interviews and news-gathering work in the daily news program I used to produce for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Simple. Good sound. Highly recommended by all of our editors and associate producers. _________________ Be well,

I've installed this unit for a couple clients and it works VERY well for the price. Avoid the cheaper Auto Hybrid, though. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

I've had one for about a year and it works great! Very easy to install and use.

I have the AutoHybrid and it works great IF you can adjust the "null" setting appropriately and keep it set...otherwise, (and especially if you're using it on the road or in different situations) not so much...
The unit in question is good, though _________________ Skype: globalvoiceover

I finally got my Inline Patch hooked up and had my first session with it yesterday for a demo recording. This little thing worked great. I was able to hear and record the caller and record myself on separate channels and still send the caller my mic output. In the end I was left with a recorded track of just me on my mic and and a separate track of my conversation with the caller.
For those interested, here is how I have my Inline Patch connected.
Gear:
JK Audio Inline Patch
Mackie VLZ 1202
Mackie Onyx Satellite
MKH-416
Connections:
MKH-416 --> VLZ Ch. 1 Line In
JK Audio From Phone Line XLR --> VLZ Ch. 7/8 Line In (L -bal)
JK Audio Send to Phone Line XLR <-- VLZ Aux Send 1
VLZ Alt 3/4 (L) --> Satellite Input 1
VLZ Alt 3/4 (R) --> Satellite Input 2
VLZ Ch. 5/6 Line In <-- Satellite Output 1
So, with this set-up, I just set Ch. 1 Pan to 'L' and Ch. 7/8 Pan to 'R' and engage the Alt 3/4 switch for these channels which sends the signals to my computer on separate tracks. Then I adjusted the Aux 1 for the mic channel to a level that was acceptable for the caller and we were in business. Seemed to work pretty good to me.
If anyone has a different approach with the connections I would be happy to hear them. |
