Here's what I need...

Big enough to hold 3 pieces with space in between (preamp, digi rack, and eventually isdn codec)
Got to have a wood finish since it'll be out in the main office with cable running into the "studio" er closet. Bitchin
Needs to have a lockable door (my kids LOVE buttons, knobs & shiny things)

I'm thinking about building one. Anyone ever tried?

Tom, try having a quick peek in HERE ... hope it helps! You'll even find a detailed plan for one.

that's a great post Edo. There are several places you can download plans. I made an isolation box for my computer and a rack box for my outboards. They are really pretty easy to make.
Good luck. Let me know if I can help.

What about K&K Audio?

They make good racks. Pretty strong too (albeit expensive, depending on where you look).

Thanks guys!

I checked out Lou's link and I'm getting a custom all wood unit built with a locking door. I'll post a pick once I've got it set up and full of all the goodies I've been picking up this week. Bitchin Laugh

How about buying a nice piece of furniture that you like to look at and has a lock, then put a rack frame inside?

As promised here it is. I'm really happy with the rack although I should've had him stain it a little darker. If anyone's interested the site is nice-racks.com

Very classy indeed. I like the stain because it brings out the grain in the wood.

Your daughter looks lovely and very intelligent so its only a matter of time before she discovers the back of this cabinet and begins to move the things around for you. I assume you'll have the back facing the wall. Good luck
