My colleague and pal Hillary Huber was bemoaning the fact that she has a job tomorrow that is guaranteed to generate nightmares: Doing the narration for a TV Special, "Going Postal: 15 Shocking Acts of Violence."
I shared this:
I just narrated two TV shows, which air on cable channel, RFD-TV. The show is, 'Training Mules and Donkeys.' That Lifetime Achievement Award is really kicking in.
This exchange reminded me of story told to me by my Theatre Professor back in college when I was probably griping about getting cast in a minor role in a play:
Veteran character actor, Jack Albertson, won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role in "The Subject Was Roses" in 1968. When reporters called him on the following Monday wanting to meet with him for photo shoot/interviews, he said, "you'll have to come to the studio. I have a looping gig."
As DB would say, meh.

Pat,
Yes, life does, indeed, go on.
I think the challenge is to keep it real for as long as you can, and have fun doing it along the way.

Dang. I've been trying to get in the door at RFD for some time. Good for you. |

i remember when a radio friend of mine got fired from his morning show because he (in his words) got too big for his britches. he couldn't find another job for quite a while & ended up working with his brother doing, among other things, shoveling out the back of garbage trucks. he told me with EVERY shovel-full he muttered "big time radio star!" _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis
