Telco's quoting over $100/mo.
Seem excessive or close to normal? |

I've heard $80/month is pretty normal. I pay $40 something with AT&T. _________________ Joe Szymanski

Tom,
It varies quite a bit from place to place. I pay just over $100.00 a month here in North Carolina. It's well worth the investment though as I make quite a bit more than $100.00 a month using it. _________________ Be well,

I've got Qwest and it's about $85/month for the two lines.

That was my rate with AT&T as well, but maybe it has something to do with the area you are in. _________________ We have nothing to fear but fear itself.

I am only 30 minutes from Joe and he seems to have THE deal. I pay about $65 a month through Embarq/Sprint.
Plus you should have the long distance on the lines too in case you ever need to call out and to ensure you have no line issues (from what I have been told). It's another $10 a month thru MCI just for the service on both lines (no minutes). MCI seems to be the only reliable company offering 64kbps bandwidth for the ISDN lines. If you know of another company offering a better price with the same reliable service, please share. _________________ Ben

The trick is to get residential ISDN if it's available. When I signed up, my AT&T rep encouraged me to go with residential service instead of business class. Feeling like I'd be scamming the system if I didn't at least mention that I run a business from my residence, I let her know and she insisted that since my house wasn't an actual business address, that she needed to enter me at the residential rate. So I said "Ok!".
If you search back in the archives, you'll see my posts about all the problems I had with my line in the first few months of having ISDN. I placed no less than 30 calls to AT&T during that time and each time they were less than helpful in tracking down the issue, which was finally determined to be caused by a bad cable just down the street, not with my equipment as they so often insisted. With service like that, who would want to pay business rates? _________________ Joe Szymanski

I am with Joe on the residential service deal. I pay $33 for the lines (AT&T) and $6 for long distance (MCI) per month. |

Well, I tried to hit them up for residential service but no luck. They say their rates are the same for residential or small business.
Thanks for the info folks. |
