So I'm sitting here experimenting with different FTP server programs on my server. I'm connected to it remotely and I go to the network card settings on the server to check one little thing that I was curious about and CLICK! the mouse released on "Disable" instead.

The server's in Austin.

I'm in Maine.

The only way to re-enable the network card is to be physically sitting in front of the thing. I emailed the guys at the hosting site, but until they get in tomorrow, my web site, email, blog, etc. will be offline.

Time for bed. I'm ruining my street cred as a tech by admitting this. Ninja

Sorry Greg, but it's definitely a PEBKAC moment for you.

I feel your pain.

That was like recently when my mail server's spool had 500+ messages in it (usually it's under 100) and instead of "Display All" (to show me a list of all of them) I accidentally clicked on "Delete All".

Oops. 500+ messages. Poof!

(keep in mind there are thousands of users from hundreds of companies on this particular server)

Did I mention "oops"?

PEBKAC moment for sure, Greg. I felt more like it was an ID 10-T moment.

Lou: Been there, man. I want to be in a place in life where my "cold chill up the spine" moments come from me thinking "Ah ha! I know what to do with this character" instead of "Oh SH&#! The server's hosed!".

This sounds like a great bit for the "Tales from the Shark Tank" section of Computerworld.

Meh, we have those at work... don't work nearly as well as you'd think.

they keep saying it's due to low brainwave activity... I blame all the Powerpoint meetings
