So, I'm prepping to move to LA for the next two months or so to take some classes and finally record my commercial & character demos!!! Wheee!
I am very excited about this and just wanted to share. I will be taking Pat Fraley's 5-week character class, which I think will be great for polishing up the characters I've been working on, and I'm hoping to get involved in some work-outs groups as well.
It may not seem completely necessary for me to move to LA to do my demos, but more than anything I have really been needing a change lately--to feel like I can immerse myself in the craft away from the distractions of my day-to-day life here in New York . . . plus I already have good core group of friends out there (VO-related and otherwise). I'll be back in NYC at the end of June, and I guess we'll see what happens then--time to start building my website and thinking about my branding!

Follow your heart's desire, as far as common sense takes you.
Bring plenty of money.
Failure only happens when we accept it.
Never buy a house without a back door.
Bring plenty of money.
Keep $40 in your left shoe at all times.
Throw away your snow shovel.
If dreams were horses, beggars would ride.
Uh.. what was the question?
Oh... Best of luck in the coastal change. _________________ "Bailey"

Thanks for all the well-wishes, kids
Yoda--you must give me a ring/email if you're coming out west!
September--thanks for asking . . . I'm actually subletting a place from a friend, but let's keep in touch! It would be great to meet up out there!
I am SO looking forward to this!! |

Definitely! Shouldn't be too much longer now Claire Dodin is just waiting on her visa to go through and then we're off!.
We simply must go window shopping and enjoy a few shots of wheat grass juice together! _________________ www.septembervoice.com

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From a marketing standpoint, I think it's a good idea to update your demos with an LA producer. I can recommend some if you'd like, just let me know.
You can't go wrong studying with Pat! One of the best teachers in da biz, and a heckuva nice guy!!
Spend some time learning where VO is in the city. Print up the list of agents, casting directors, recording studios, etc., from www.voiceoverresourceguide.com and just drive. See where everything is geographically.
I hope to have VOX on the Rocks up and running again soon. This is my monthly happy hour gathering for everyone and anyone in or interested in VO. I started this in 2001 but we took a hiatus for the past several months as I need to find a new venue. If you'd like to be on my email list, email me from the vox on the rocks page from www.bobbergen.com
My buddy Roy Samuelson has an awesome vo workout group! roy@roysamuelson.com
NOW-to the important things:
1) Pinks hot dogs on La Brea. Always a line, but worth the wait!
2) Yamashiro-the food is a lil pricey, but the view is one of the best in LA! Great for a sunset after work drink!
3) Miss Peaches Southern Cuisine-On Lankershim in North Hollywood. Awesome fried chicken!
4) Barsac-also on Lankershim in North Hollwyood. Great lil restaurant/bar owned by a fellow VO actress, Lisa Long and her hubby James. Ask for Lisa, tell her you are new to the city and I told you to introduce yourself. Then enjoy some of the best hospitality and food in town! Also a big industry hangout!
5) Toast in Woodland Hills-it's all about the inside out hot fudge sundae! The fudge is layered thick on the outside of the goblet.
6) C&O in Marina del Rey-addictive lil garlic rolls, reasonably priced family style Italian.
7) Musso and Frank-oldest restaurant in Hollywood. Stiff martinis, great pancakes in the morning, and awesome comfort food for dinner.
Off Vine-charming converted old craftsman house in Hollywood, with awesome food!
Want more? Just ask!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats on the decision!!

I think if that were presented to me I would just weep. How are you supposed to eat it without getting it all over your face? |

Believe it or not, The LA Times reported that Off Vine burned down over the weekend.
Oh well. |
