From Craigslist, the great treasure trove of VO:

Quote:
Need a female/male voiceover for a presentation script. No Pay, well maybe pay, we'll see how you sound, but definitely credit and the reel

So what you're telling me is that if I sound good, you'll pay me. But if I don't sound good, you won't pay me, but you'll use my recording anyway?

buh bye.

Not worth the time to look at the ad. But if I did do it, I'd send the file with beeps across the track. If they like it they can pay me first then they get a clean file.

Another fine example of someone playing producer with out any respect for the craft.

What's worse, Mike, was this recording was to be done in their studio, I believe. So not only would you have to spend time and money getting there, they might have the gumption to say to your face, "No, not good enough. No pay."

Believe me, I didn't spend more time on that ad than a quick shortcut key to copy/paste it here.

that's funny... and who decides if it's good or bad?

Is there a rating system?

Judging?

Actually I think that would be kind of fun to do to folks at an audition... but I'm a tad weird.

I'll record my cat yawning...send the file..and, will ask if, rather than the "I couldn't care less about the credit" BS, if they would pay in "Meow Mix Indoor Formula."

Or, not.

Mitch

By the way, if I PAID the membership fee with my Credit Card, MY CAT could actually be considered a "PRO VOICE TALENT" by the "Pay-To-Players," correct?

That is correct. Despite the comments, none of them are really screening talent or clients appropriately.

FWIW, I'd toss some $ your way to do this. I'd find it hillarious to see how far you could take it.

Though from what I've read over there, if your cat tried auditioning through YOUR account, you'd get a stern talking-to.

Yes... Yes... Maybe not.

If the pay or no pay option is selected, and the recording location requires travel, a mandatory travel expense would need to be addressed first.

Boy...I SURE wouldn't want those highly ethical representatives of PROFESSIONAL VOICE TALENT to give me a stern talking to! Gosh no! I'd have to put my CAT on the phone.

that's right... you shouldn't harass the seekers.

but them giving all your contact and personal info to the seekers without your knowledge? That's okay.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

If you ask me...and I admit no one has.....the mere posting of it is spending way too much time on it.
