Hey Gang— I'm using PT on a Mac— when I "export selected files as" WAVs or MP3s I get a neat little ".wav" or ".mp3" at the end of the filename. (this is from the bin, not the bounce command) When I do the same with AIFs, I get no suffix.
In my Mac's Finder prefs, I have "show all file extensions" checked.
Anyone got a fix? _________________ DBCooperVO.com

When you open a new session, is the "Enforce Mac/PC" checkbox checked?
You can add the .aif by clicking once on the filename; it will automatically "select" (highlight) itself. Go to the end of the filename and type in dot plus the extension. |

I'll check that "enforce" thing. I'm guessing that makes the extension show up if it's checked?
I'll look in the manual to see what it says about that— thanks!
I have done the paste-it-on method, but it sucks when you need to do it for 100 files. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Deirdre,
The "enforce Mac/PC compatibility thing" was what came to mind for me, too. If you have a session where you didn't do that, you can always do a Save Session Copy In and make sure you do have it checked for the copy. Messy, but it could work. _________________ Be well,

Yeah, I had a similar situation where I actually sent a file to someone with a PC without an extension, unaware that the checkbox had become unchecked! I was able to talk the post guy through the appending process , and then immediately went to PT, opened a new session, discovered the problem and checked the checkbox and saved the otherwise blank session. |

DB, if you don't find another solution, you can always use a batch re-namer to add the extension. I use R-Name and while it appears the developer's site is no longer valid (or is at the very least redone in Japanese), it looks like the download still works. It's a great little free utility. |

Thanks, Don— I have also used A Better Finder Rename but it's much easier to have PT do it!
The Enforce checkbox is the key. Thank you Radio Moo!! _________________ DBCooperVO.com
