I got a call from a Cable company in another city (rhymes with bombast) that I've done spots for over the years asking me to read one (I thought they'd forgotten about me), and asked if I was still charging the same rate. I asked if the company was accepting any higher rates from talent and his response was, "well a lot of voice talent are pulling out if that answers your question".

Three spiney cheers for the dropouts!

Yep, in their home market (which is not a SAG/AFTRA town), the talent are being asked to lower their rates.

Forum rules do not allow me to post the general response from the community.

Diane,

in the "City of Brotherly Love" we have much more colorful ways of expressing our displeasure:

- An appearance by Santa at a football game causes a delay... we throw snowballs at him.

- Stealing from a person? Before the police can arrive to the scene of a suicide the body is picked clean of valuables.

- We don't like a particular sports figure (J.J. Drew comes to mind)... we throw batteries at him, during the game.

It a shame to say, but the "Philly attitude" is why such a majority of political ads are done by Philly VO talent.

J.D. Drew, Greg. Wink I was going to add the battery hailstorm if that wasn't included in your list. Still blows me away.

jello = mad cow disease

answer: gelatin is derived from collagen in cow or pig bones, hooves, and connective tissues

also, it's the hide glue used to hold violins together.

i don't eat the stuff ... but somehow it's tradition here . (utah, not the vo-bb)

I used to work in Philly many years ago. I went to my first Eagles game at the Vet with two friends of mine.
I went to the beer stand to buy a round for me and my friends.
"Three beers please", I said.
"There's a two beer limit" the woman behind the counter said.
I asked her why. She said,
"Because Iggles fans are a**h***s"

I brought back one of the guys so we could buy 2 each!!!

Ahhh... it's all the same. Smile

Note: I spent the first 11 years of my life living just outside Phila, and my parent's were both born and raised in the city.
