Hi, all. Kind of an odd question for any of you who've been on either side of the mic for a Books-On-Tape outfit:
When Books-on-Tape studios edit their content, how do they do it? Is it done right on-site, or do they farm it out to dedicated editing houses?
Either way, does anyone know how much editing an average-sized book-on-tape generally costs? And is there any way to solicit a bid from an editing house for this purpose? Basically trying to find out how much money it would take to get a 250-300 page audiobook edited. |

I don't know if this will be much help to you, but I've done a few audiobooks where I was only the editor and not the narrator. For those, I normally charge around $500 per CD. A book of the size you mention would probably run between 8 and 10 CDs so, $4000 to $5000 is a ball-park estimate. If you were hiring me to do it. _________________ Be well,
