It looks as if the powers that be at 123 have taken over the other forum and wiped out all of the old posts to start anew.
I'm a fan of all the forums and get so much info and frienship from them all. I would hate to see all of that gone forever @ savvy. _________________ http://www.jameslorenz.com/notjustvoiceover |

Still to come from a commercially linked web site near you, detention centers, whites only threads and weekly book burning. Free subscription to certain sites for naming traitors and spies.
Any individual who posts challenging or potentially damaging threads/topics on certain sites should expect such material to be deleted as the management of the site is merely using "Chat/forum" model to generate sales. Content that is upbeat and promotes the owners mainstream website is of commercial value and as such should be posted in return for a fee or discount off the owner's product.
LEGAL NOTE
The above content is in no way linked with any Voice Over web site and has been posted to highlight an alarming trend in commercial web site behaviour and to encourage reciprocal behaviour from contributors. |

Do you think they realize that the professional voice over community credibility they barely had is now compounded by the social media credibility they will never have?
All those posters who have just been told "as to your ideas and conversations: f-you. They didn't mean anything and some insulted us and its our sandbox."
Ah yes, V123, by your words, actions, and services, you never let us forget its all about you.
I wish I invested in stocks as successfully as I pulled out of paying V123 at the right time so long ago....I'd be rich-er. _________________ - Peter

If you guys look, they did reply that the old info has NOT been deleted and will be linked back in somehow.
Peter, sounds like you need a good broker. I know one... _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!

I was a little shocked at first... but not surprised, really.
Funny thing, all the new topics just looks like propaganda.
I think I'm gonna be sick.
EDIT: Caryn, yes they DID say that..... but I have a feeling they will be heavily filtered first.... if it's true at all. _________________ Regards,

You know Jacob, I kinda thought the same thing... seems like a one-sided conversation.
But, they did start the forum, so I guess that makes sense. And, they did start savvy too.
I've decided to see this in a positive light... and that is, the key players at V123 seem to be available to more readily answer our questions about the inner workings of the system, which will hopefully allow for a better understanding of it. I plan to use that understanding to my advantage. _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!

Ah! I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling like that!
Caryn, you're right, at least now there is communication with them, but the spirit of friendship has gone. _________________ www.clairedodin.com |

No comment. But purely as a statement of fact, I did not renew my V123 membership in May. |

Maybe because they are. That most of the topics are done by V123 staff is very telling. However, I've gotten used to it. If nothing else, they are a shady bunch. But since it's a new place, I guess they need to start the ball rolling. Time will tell just how accessible the key players really are (back when V123 moderated voiceoversavvy they weren't unless they were pushing something).
That there seems to be little concern from others is of even greater note to me. However, I'm sure that any posting which isn't positive was deleted.

Agreed. Alex isn't known for his ability to deal well with any form of criticism.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I've never joined, not due to the bottom-feeding, or the problems with smartcast, but due to the behavior of staff and lack of security with their system. The latest actions just confirm my opinion (ought to be interesting to see what kind of response the general populace will have on other boards, forums, etc.).
I feel bad for the mods of the site, as I suspect that they had no clue this was coming (spoke with Erik last week, and nothing was mentioned regarding this). _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

Gather 'round, kiddies; let me tell you how Grampa once tangled with the mighty Savvy beast.
I was originally a V123 apologist; a staunch defender of its faltering steps.
"Give Smartcast some time," I cried as that blind and cumbersome monster dealt us leads for Lithuanian transvestites, urban rap jingles, and soprano divas.
"Give the ratings a chance to settle," I urged as our rankings and search priorities were established by eleven-year would-be Spielbergs, and myopic seekers with little time and patience.
"Maybe it's good to spread the workload," I opined as voicers were punished for daring to audition.
"Sure, I'll do as they say," I smiled, taking a three-week audition sabbatical to bring myself more in line with the audition average.
Immediately, I dropped fifty percentile points. I all but disappeared from the search function, appearing only somewhere between Marcel Marceau and Helen Keller.
Bemused, I posted a whimsical Johnny Cash parody: "A Boy Rated Two."
The powers that be snarled that I had somehow insulted their mothers.
I wrote frostily about the conflicting counsel: how we were damned if we did, and doubly damned if we didn't.
I was labelled a "toxic internet presence."
Then I was disappeared. My private leads went from sporadic to never. I couldn't access Savvy. I couldn't PM. Worse, my V123 site was literally gone.
I didn't renew.
Savvy had come between me and V123. For that, I'll always be grateful. |

*insert sound of hammer hitting nail right on the head here*
I have never been a premium member of Vomit123. The only reason I created a profile there was to be eligible to participate on the forums. Now, only Premium members can do that. I wonder how many of the Savvy regulars was infact Prem's...
So much for the new forum. It's obviously not a new Savvy, and I guess they don't intend it to be. But to just flush all the brilliant stuff posted by so many bright and talented people over the years with no warning....
I rest my case.
Earl. _________________ Regards,

I'm sorry, but I find this one statement to be amusing because of all the comments from V123 as they told us up, down, and sideways that rankings didn't affect search engine results, yet anyone with an IQ above room temperature could see that it did.
I think that's the thing which got so many people. Off the boards, people rarely bring up the place in a positive aspect. It's usually more about the disbelief that the company consistently said one thing, yet did another.
I think that the recent postings of the e-mails sent by customer service and V123 staff might have been the final nail in the coffin for the place. When it's publicly coming out that the company has no obligation to you (and you're the paying customer), it's kind of hard to duck the image which is painted.
Trust. We talk about branding, image, and all that stuff quite a bit around here. That's got to be the hallmark behind it all, because if you don't have that, you've got nothing. _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser
