Just thought I would share this little piece of good information. There are some good clients out there.
I had voiced three short parts for a company I work with every so often and had inadvertently quoted them a very low rate. When they contacted me because I had not sent an invoice, I had forgot what I quoted and asked for their thoughts.
Well, I was willing to live with what I had quoted as I am a man of my word. My client asked me what I normally charge and said they would be willing to pay me a larger fee; as, and I quote: "I’d like you to feel good about working with me in the future,"
So, folks, there are good clients out there... and I enjoy everyone of them.
Toodles

That does sound like a good one, Frank.
I was just complimenting one of mine a few days ago for being so prompt on paying. I do the job, e mail an invoice immediately and usually get the check within 3 days.
I wish they all were like that. _________________ http://toddvoice.com/ |

frank, you and your client must have sent karmic shockwaves through the known universe.
i did my first job for a certain nashville studio last week. the owners were fans of mine from radio days decades ago, we re-discovered each other last year but it's taken this long for me to connect with one of their clients. that said, they had the job lined up for me before i even knew i was being considered.
i was asked my rate for this particular type of tv voicer and quoted what i thought would be reasonable for the market.
"oh, i think we can do better than that," my friend said. she was right. my rate wound up being almost double my quote...and there were four spots, not one as i originally thought.
when i was asked if i could do a (very) slight discount on one of the cuts, since it was shorter and would only run on the local pbs station...you know i said "absolutely!"
clients like these are treasures to be nurtured! _________________ rowell gormon

There IS something in the air! Congrats Frank and Rowell!
I invoiced a client 2 days ago my normal fee. He e-mailed back and asked me to add 50% on top of my normal rate and re-invoice him
Then, about an hour later, I got this note at the bottom of an e-mail from a different client:
"I know I tell you this all the time, but you are doing a terrific job for us, thanks for keeping the schedule, quality, and consistency up."
I love my job!! _________________ Threadjackers local 420
