I was going to threadjack Connie's Studio Redo thread, but in the interests of peace and harmony I shall refrain from starting a booth war. Smile

I finally got finished with my own bit of studio rebuilding, which actually involved buying a new house to put it in - don't tell my wife. She thinks we bought the house for the family.

It's a converted Japanese Tatami room on the third floor. I originally thought I could do the conversion in two weeks....Yeah, right. More like two months.

The tatami mats were replaced with flooring, and the large sliding doors to the veranda were blocked up. We can still access the veranda through the library next to the studio.

The mic here (TLM103) is set up for practice and quick auditions.

There used to be a window where the blackboard is now. Works great as a low tech to-do list.

The booth is a converted futon cupboard. All the walls, the floor and the ceiling were re-built. The original sliding doors were trashed and I built the new wall and door from scratch.

The little white box contains a Mac Mini which is used for recording the basic voice tracks.

My little treasure chest. A 1920's Japanese medicine chest where I keep my collection of ancient rings. My Didge too.

I guess I should now think about finishing the rest of the house. Smile

Maiku.

WOW! We've been looking for a home to buy in FL (and have had absolutely no luck- so we are renting in the meantime). I just pulled my husband in the room and said- find me a house where you can build me one of THESE! By the look on his face- I think it will be a while...

FANTASTIC job Mike!!

Mike, what a fine room to work in! Congrats on a great build. One question though from a tech point of view... are you also doing fully produced stuff? If so, I have a suggestion for you in terms of your monitoring.

Looks great!

Super - super - super.

Is the monitor in the booth on some sort of sliding mounting bracket - or is it up that high all the time?

Maiku, great work. I noticed you have a split system ac unit in your main room. Is it quiet enought to continue to run while you work? Studio looks very nice!

Wow.... would it be impolite to ask what your material costs were for the studio specific materials?

I am finishing my own house as well, picking up where the guy who built it left off.. which meant filling in an empty 2nd floor with 2 bedrooms a bath and a walk-in closet... said closet will double as my booth with computers initially running dumb on the other side of the wall.
