I have been watching and reviewing the "be careful what you wish for department" regarding the price of gasoline for the past couple of years and have arrived at a conclusion, which you may or may not subscribe to:

My conclusion? We have believed and have begun to rely on the media and the hype for how the price of gasoline will rise and how high it will go.

So with this conclusion in mind I have also devised a thought provoking concept which will help lower the price of gasoline and increase the value of the US dollar. Written below is this simple concept which in order for all of us to achieve, we must all believe strongly.

W. Clement Stone is quoted as saying; "Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve".

Start spreading the word the price of gasoline is going down and will reach $2.00 USD per gallon or less by the end of the year. In addition, foresee the value of our dollar improving significantly in this same time frame.

Let us begin our belief process here and now to see what the mind of Voiceover men and women can achieve.

Do not concern your thoughts with the how or the why, just believe this concept will happen. Hey, it is worth a try is it not?

Toodles

The King of Saudi Arabia said it was so on Friday, there is no shortage of oil, only a shortage of customers to buy it - hence, the wild speculation must come to an end, and I foresee the price at less than $2.00/gallon before the election in November.

UK price per litre at today's exchange rate $2.23. Or $8.45 per US gallon.

I like your thinking Frank!!! Heck I'll try it!!

I agree, I think it'll be lower (in other words, the dollar will be stronger - the two are linked) by election time. I hope!!!

You know, Phillip. I was wondering what the price was in the UK now. A few years ago, there was much discussion about gas breaking the $2 mark over here and someone from the UK basically said, "What are you complaining about? It's up to $5US over here!"

Regardless, I'm a lot more cautious about the outings I make as each one will cost me $5. Plus, now I have to budget for oil for hot water and heat. We just dumped $600 into that to last us until October or so. That'll give us enough time to save up for paying that much every few weeks during the winter.

I hope this plan of yours works, Frank. Wink I want to get to Boston more often than I do these days.

I heard that because the gov't isn't putting as much into the strategic oil reserve, the price for gas should fall to $2 per gallon by October.

I heard that in a few years, most of our vehicles will be running on alternative energy so it won't matter what gasoline costs. Also more will be invested in bike paths so local auto traffic will be greatly reduced.

i've heard that bicycle and associated costs have risen as demand has risen. there are silver linings to these high gas prices. maybe not in the cost of bikes, but the increased use is grrrrreat!

Well, if I were president, I would get on my bully pulpit once a week and announce the previous week's national gasoline consumption figure and compare it to the week, month and year before. I'd congratulate the country when it lowered usage, and encourage us to reduce driving when we didn't. If we have a number to beat each week I think we'd make wonderful things happen. We're good at sacrificing for the common good...when we're asked (ahem, Mr. Bush). Watch those oil producers quake if we get serious about using less!

Actually Frank, I did read that industry insiders are in fact expecting gas to be down right around $2 / gallon again before the end of the year.

Woohoo!

Now where'd I put that dang V12 Lambo...

Bruce: You got it ... we need leaders that stay in touch by talking to the nation on purpose, out in the open, not in sound bites or by accident! (and when you're elected, we expect the fireside mug at least once a week)

Heh. I'm honestly trying to think of ONE place to which it would be more practical for me to bike (outside of recreation).

I mowed my own lawn yesterday for the first time in two years (we just bought a house = yay!). I bought an electric mower for the lil' plot we owned in Austin just before we moved. Now that we own an acre of land, it turns out 100' of extension cord doesn't go very far. I managed to get 90% of the grass cut (luckily, one third of our land is still trees - where do I get one of those day-glo chainsaws?). Now I'm thinking about one of those rechargable mowers. It was nice to not reek of gas afterwards.
