I recorded my commercial demo...
Thing is, I'm not so sure about it, it doesn't come as natural to me as the cartoon thing...and It worries me,
So i need to know what you guys think!!!

I also recorded a little thingy as an audiobook demo and I did some fun animal sounds in case anyone ever needs some...go figure...

you can check the new stuff out here:

Please let me know what you think as it is my first time recording a commercial demo and I want to be sure it's up to standard before I let it out to the rest of the world to see..

Thank you!

Very good. Think about adding one short clip of just a normal kid interacting with an adult, maybe a father. Then, shorten the whole demo to 60 seconds.
You'll have a very maketable demo.

Good luck!

Thanks Bill, I wanted to do a kid thing but I had no male adult to do it with me ...
So I just cut a new edit for the same demo now, made it shorter and more to the point it is 60 seconds now.
So whoever goes to my page can hear a whole lotta kids on the animation demo and more of my natural voice on the commercial one.
You can go check out the new edit , in my opinion it makes the whole thing sound way better Wink

Hi Mia;

Nice strong voice. You've got the "kid" voice and teen voices down pat. You also bring the emotion of these character into play when you do them and that's important for their believeability (and where is a spell check when I need one).

You are not however, showing as much versitility as I think you can show. You hit the roof of your mouth hard with your tongue and that creates a sound that is keeping you from doing more emotive or softer reads. By this I don't mean talking softer, I mean emotionally softer. At first hearing your voice, I thought perhaps you spoke another language of the Indian subcontinent. So I read your profile to see where you are from and I see that you do speak several other languages - and having spoken Hebrew myself (a long time ago), I suspect that the need to use the tongue this way when speaking Hebrew is sneaking into your English.

Here's an example: my husband spoke German until he was 5. After that, he spoke both English and German. He has absolutely no German sound to his English ever - not when he's tired, angry, suprised, etc. However, there are some words that he uses more of his tongue than native speakers do when speaking English. And I can tell that he's doing it. It confused me until I learned about his German roots.

You will be surprised to hear how different you can sound when using your tongue and the back of your throat another way. I am able to peel back the hard tongue sound and hear what you'd sound without it. Older, more approachable, lots of flexibility to all kinds of copy. Yowza!

wow!
thank you!
all that you said- completely true Smile
I took some speech lessons and learned some methods to cope with the "accent" thing... yeah, it annoys me as well, I am highly critical of myself and hear it all the time (in the demos as well)
I'm still working on it, speaking more english, reading everyday, hopefully I can learn to control it more,
thanks alot for the critic, very appreciated Wink
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
