Odesk is free to join and shows 42 voiceover job posts so that looks promising! I'll let you know how it goes... _________________ Tom Dheere - The "H" is Silent, but I'm Not!

I had completely forgotten about this site! I had started the sign up process a couple of months ago. I just went back and finished.

The idea is fantastic but it should be interesting from a vo perspective. First of all, my voice computer is completely separate from the computer I do my invoicing and where I installed their Odesk Team thingy. Also, they really want you to bill hourly and log the time accurately so that you are paid only for the time worked. I have a minimum requirement just for walking in the booth...I can't wait to see how this works out. I don't want to compromise what I do and how I do it, that's for sure.

But as a whole, the site seems to run well. I'd researched feedback and don't see much lacking. Here's to lots of work! _________________ 006 member of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Mic. Bonded by sound.

Istarted the sign up. I'll need to do more reading up before I do the test though. Since they want you logged in thru their client it may not work for me if I'm working from the radio station behind their firewall. _________________ Wicked huge.....in India.

Here's a tip about the test: I didn't realize until I was almost done that under the test question there's a link to the answer! That's why I need to take it again in a few days. Oops! _________________ Tom Dheere - The "H" is Silent, but I'm Not!

So I subscribed to the SimplyHired RSS feed and found that it is mostly a search engine that links to gigs from all over the place, many of them requiring a membership. Lots of Craigslist dupes as well. _________________ Jeff

Wow. I took the odesk test...

That's a whole lot more "big brother" than I'd be willing to work with.

They actually monitor your computer activity and have webcam screenshots to go with it. I wonder if they're working on a "pee timer".

No thanks. _________________ Wicked huge.....in India.

haha, yes, I like that they encourage you to go open book. I must admit, my head was swimming but I was really interested in how they make it work. I was really unsure how to price myself since they want an hourly rate but that doesn't apply to vo since our prices vary depending on the job/market/etc. I searched others who label themselves as voice artists and some are charging 10 or 20 bucks an hour. Lovely. _________________ 006 member of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Mic. Bonded by sound.

Honestly Mandy, I think they're more to the web development arena...and not in a particularly freindly way either.

I absolutely agree there! See, I woke up this morning saying, "how can I waste an hour of my day?" I was able to cross that off my to-do list and then take a nice run and eat some ice cream. _________________ 006 member of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Mic. Bonded by sound.

Way to go kid! That puts things back into proper perspective. :)
