I'm asked all the time: what do I think of these two services, Voice123 and Voices.com? Well, I recently let my memberships expire when I discovered what these services are doing to the market for V/O professionals. I first became disturbed when I began to see job postings paying $100-$300 or some other on-godly sum where the voice seeker was requesting 100 or 200 auditions. I hope voice talents rise up against this and save their money. This is having an extremely negative effect on our business. Mind you, I guess the voice seekers will get what they paid for. Thoughts?

Garth... If you do a search in the archives for V123, Voice123, P2P... and stuff like that, you'll find that more than enough cussing and discussing has been done on this subject. Most of those thoughts have been thoroughly chewed and digested. I only bring this up so you won’t be disappointed if only a few on the board care to participate in the discussion.

That being said... Garth, welcome to the VO-BB! Smile

Garth,

Welcome to the VO-BB. As "Bailey" suggests, the archives are filled with lots of gold.

Hi Garth & welcome. A Treasure trove is definitely found in the archives. Happy searching. You'll find a lot of wisdom there.

Or for speed and accuracy.

For the majority both sites neatly combine false hope, a waste of money and are time bandits.

I'd say Philip wins the award for "speed and accuracy"... in 17 words or less.

So pretty much, like most election campaigns.

Gotcha. Thanks Smile

Also, for a great search mechanism...try this (something Deirdre herself suggested in searching this forum).

In your Google search dialogue box:

"V123"_site:vo-bb

-or-

site: http://www,vo-bb.com/_"V123"

or simply:

"site:vo-bb.com v123"

the folks at google were kind enough to provide multiple paths for the same SQL query (since it can be done using several methods).

All three should work fine in any major search engine.

Though it's probably good to point out that none of the searches using Google will find anything in the sections that are visible only to those who are registered.

Thanks, Bob— and that thread is indeed in the un-Googleable Entre Nous.

I wanted people to speak their minds freely.

Really, I can't imagine better words to describe these P2P sites. Well Said!
