VO-BB - 20 YEARS OLD!

Now, when I was a kid, and I went to a parade, and the county sheriff was in the parade, it was most common to see him riding a horse and waving his stetson at everybody.

However for the past several years we've had this publicity-mad character playing the role of sheriff here. He even has his own reality show on some obscure network.

He's been in trouble for ordering his troops, er... deputies, to grab anyone who looks Mexican and holding them until they can prove citizenship (since 90%+ of our Hispanics are here legally it kinda pisses 'em off....a lot) and his department has been sued many times for maiming and killing prisoners through brute force, costing our county many millions of dollars in awards.

But it was parade time recently, and here he is with his wife and his "steed":

My brothers, sister and parents live in Phoenix. One brother has a problem with alcohol and occasionally finds himself on the streets (he doesn't drive). There's little the family can do about my brother -- he seems to have found his own level and rejects most of our efforts to help -- we once got him into a treatment center only to have the brother leave after three days.

I dread having my brother end up in that sheriff's hands.
