Discovery Channel - "Disaster on K2," a show I narrated premieres tonight.

Doug,
You sounded fantastic! The perfect pace and tone in my opinion. Although- I missed the first half and now I want to see it! It's really interesting stuff- when will it air again, do you know?
Congratulations!! _________________ Threadjackers local 420

Very nice work, Doug. A tragic story, but you kept me in my seat the the entire hour. |

Hey guys, thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate it. The show is a lot darker than most of the stuff that I work on, but I really enjoyed being a part of it.
And yeah, it is a tragic story, but with some incredibly heroic and poignant moments. Really powerful stuff once you realize what these climbers were trying to accomplish against unbelievable hardships.
And Kara, it looks like it'll be on again Sunday morning at 11A (EST). Set your TiVO! _________________ Doug Turkel (tur-KELL)

Edit: (gee, great fingers think alike...we posted almost simultaneously)

Thanks Bruce and Doug! I meant to set my DVR for last night but got distracted. Off to set it NOW so it won't happen again!
I just like being able to brag to all my new neighbors...hear that voice? Yeah, I know him (or her, like during a recent trip to Home Depot when we had to press the 'help' button- heh!). _________________ Threadjackers local 420

Super job. It must have been somewhat creepy for you when you were reading it. It's almost as if they just automatically expect to come back down with half the number of people who went up. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

Through the glories of Tivo I just finished watching your K-2 show. Great job, Doug, and a great credit to have, too!
Only one question kept lingering in my mind...what's up with K-1?
So I looked it up on the WikiP. An early surveyor gave two peaks temporary names of K-1 and K-2 in honor of the range's name, which starts with a K, and as soon as they can, surveyors try and find out the local names and rename them. However K-2 is so well hidden from general view that few locals had ever seen it and had never given it a name, so K-2 stuck.
And now I know.
