OK, so I have new an ADK A6 and M-Audio Fastrac Ultra. I have installed the drivers, went to control, then to sound devices, and made sure that these are set to the Fastrac Ultra. I input the Mic XLR cable to the Fastrac Ultara and have tried each line in to the front of the box, set all dials to low, turned on the box and the phantom power, which reads with a red light, and tested each line by raising the levels and both pulling out the line knob. I have also run the test for connectivity and get no levels in the test hardware section in sound devices. My computer is a Dell 1520 laptop XP. I run in Audacity Beta 3.1 version and did my settings there too. I am about to chuck this whole thing at the wall because I cannot get sound out of it. HELP! What did I miss? I have talked to the vendor I got the mic from, and he says it may be the mic, though he has never has a bad one yet, which makes me believe that I am missing something. I borrowed another XLR cable from the local RS and that did not help. I know that I must be missing something elemental here.

Does it REPLAY audio if you play a signal from the computer through the FTU? If so, your FTU is probably in the right working order, but to check things even further for recording, have you tried unhooking everything and adding a line signal to the line inputs of the FTU? If you do get sound this time, you have a faulty mic or mic input connector... hope it helps, I'm neither familiar with the mic nor your interface.

Audacity doesn't do ASIO, so make sure you choose the right set of drivers in Audacity. Try other driver types listed until one works.

Would life be more simple if I invested in an alternate program like Adobe Audition or Sony Soundforge?
