I thought this was - well - unique. You might too.

Here is a style of Gaelic singing called 'puirt a beul' or 'mouth music' - originally music for dancing, but unfortunately this is not Phillip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Jt35ySeJTM

Sorry, but Bobby McFerrin still is the king:

...and he was doing it over 20 years ago. I got to see him perform with our local Symphony several years ago. It was one of the best experiences of my life. That good.

That clip is a great example of why I was a huge McFerrin fan. Don't Worry, Be Happy is probably the worst thing he ever did, and so many people know him only for that. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

Definitely unique and entertaining, but he's no Rahzel:

Watch that all the way to the end.
And if you guys haven't heard of Fred Newman, allow me to introduce you:
http://mouthsounds.info/
He's like the albino Michael Winslow.
But seriously, Fred's a super-nice guy. I love his work on the PBS show "Between The Lions" and the vocal SFX he performs live on the "A Prairie Home Companion" radio show. And his original 80's recording of "Mouthsounds" was a HUGE influence in how I developed a skill for mimicry. When I was a kid, my younger brother got a Fisher Price tape recorder for his birthday and it came with a sample tape featuring Fred demonstrating how to make vocal SFX, especially in imitating musical instruments. And then he proceeded to perform an entire vochestra of him doing "Chopsticks". It blew my mind. Fred's one of my "voice idols", you might say.
And I agree that Bobby McFerrin is the king. If ever there was someone that the description "phenomenal" truly fit, it's McFerrin.
Check out his rendition of the classic Henry Mancini "Pink Panther" theme:

Wow, that's a pretty elaborate production just to sell some insulation. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

I'm surprised that a search of the forum failed to turn up any mention of The Umbilical Brothers. Here are two pieces that showcase their talents:

I saw him live in the late 70s or early 80s. He's incredible! _________________ Elaine
