Does anyone know how to pronounce: Monaca, as in Monaca, Pennsylvania?
I'm doing an corporate vid for BASF. A phonetic spelling would be good, but a mp3 would be awesome.

You're well to ask about this, as Pennsylvania has plenty of names that are pronounced...differently. For example, DuBois is "DOO-boys" (or "doo-BOYS"), but most definitely not "doo-BWAH". Juneau is not "JOO-no", like in Alaska, but "ja-NEW".

Can't help you with Monaca, PA, but I know how to pronounce Tamaqua, PA in case that ever comes up.

I usually call the city offices, chamber of commerce, or the library in town. For 3 cents you have a fairly trusty answer. Sometimes if the phone messaging is clear enough you don't even need to talk to a live person.
