Okay, so I'm actually thinking of starting a blog.......(yeah I know kind of late to the party, but hopefully only fashionable late cool

I have Mars Edit, the trial version., and a website with Network Solutions (this is not my main website, it's part of a package of which I only use the e-mail address)

Do I need anything else? So far not having success actually posting any content on the aforementioned website.

I use Blogger for mine which is Google based and is really easy to use.

I TRIED to use WordPress when I started but just couldn't get it to do what I wanted, but I know others are happy with it.

Welcome to the Blogosphere! Laugh

Rob,

I'd be happy to chat with you on the phone for a few minutes if I can be of some help. Call when it's convenient for you. (If I'm in session, leave a voice mail and I'll get back with you as soon as I can.)

Do it. You'll discover things about yourself and others you didn't realize existed... you'll also learn a lot.

I won't get into what sort of aHobo Tounge to use...as I'm in the midst of switching... see post elsewhere under Entre Nous.

Best of luck...if I can help in any way, let me know.

Remember, before you start, walk away from the aHobo Tounges, platforms, fonts, designs, cross-linked-chain-fenced-auto-downstreamed-bulk-submission-SEO-encoding-wiggeries and be sure you really have something to say. Obvious? NOT TO OVER 8 billion bloggers it isn't!

I want to send an SMS which links to a Twitter taking people to my Facebook page promoting my blog which contains a link to the original SMS .....................INFINITY!

As far as I can tell most blogs are merely the cyber equivalent of writing PTO on both sides of a piece of paper.

Yeah, I tend to eschew trends, which is kind of how I have viewed blogging, therefore can appreciate Philip's observations on the subject....

Nonetheless, methinks I want to do it.

Here are my questions:

Can I use the Network Solutions website that I have (and which is currently unused) for my blog?

And when configuring the blog software to post blog content, other than the URL address for the website, what other information is needed? Is it like setting up an e-mail account?

I'm sure NetSol would LOVE to sell you all the gee-gaws that go along with your blogging account, and yes, you can use the domain you already have.

NetSol may even have a special packaged deal just for bloggers... I know GoDaddy doesn't miss a trick with that stuff.

Start there, 'cause it's probably a good idea to keep all your domain registration and hosting in one spot. They should make it easy for you in explaining what you need. Just read the fine print.

If you go WordPress, you'll need a Linux account...and yes, e-mail service is probably a part of the pkg...as is a certain amount of storage space.

That's a cursory over-view... use NetSol's helpfiles or call 'em. If you're going to be using them more extensively, you're gonna want to know that they have good customer support. Find out now.
