until i learn how to generate more myself, friends are still my strongest marketing tool.
i just completed a fun and profitable job as a sound-alike for the over-the-top narration on a lego star wars/clone wars mini-movie promo. it's to be used on the lego website and on cartoon network.
while it was satisfying to win the audition and hear how i was the one who "nailed" the delivery, i am mindful that the studio would never have even known about me had it not been for an introduction by my friend, wendy zier.
to mis-quote han solo: i've got a good feeling about this. _________________ rowell gormon

absolutely!
My friend Dan introduced me to Jim who has hired me week after week for tags and national reads.
I love networking. I tell everyone what I do for work and always have a copy of my demo handy. You never know who knows who or who needs what. _________________ Company, villainous company, hath been the spoil of me...

Congratulations!!! That's awesome!!
And, there's not a thing wrong with "networking" through friends. Networking has kinda become a dirty word... but if they're your friends, they're happy to refer you... there's nothing wrong with that! _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!

Excellent to hear Rowell.
Keep reinforcing your networking. I spend two days a week, on the phones looking for work and developing leads for myself and the peeps on my list. Ultimately, though, about half the jobs still come in as a referral of some networky source. |
