Ok, I've started a new website to separate my CGI work and graphics from my VO stuff. Keeping it simple.

Here's the first blush before I tell anyone. Let me know what you think.

Hi Monk!

I like the simplicity!!!! I do recommend putting your demos on your home page though... that's just me.

Good job!

Mark,

Nice and simple. I like it. And I've added your blog to my blogroll.

Very nice. I agree with Caryn about putting demos up front. I like the monkey. Smile

I love it! And agree about the demos.

Just for precision's sake, though, you might want to find a real monkey - you have a chimp there which is a Great Ape, not a monkey. Separate lineage. Just sayin'.

See Primate lineage below for clarification:

and for more detail of the Catarrhini:

darn. I spent most of the morning drawing that little guy. Smile

the chimp with headphones has been on my cards for years...technically I'm built more like a silverback gorilla than an chimp anyway, but once again that's a great ape. Which if you say fast enough sounds like Grape Ape, a cartoon hero from my youth.

I'll move the demo's to the first page, that does make sense, don't make em search for stuff.

So when I was called Monkey in the service, they might of though I had a tail?

well... that changes those stories!

Okiedokie! we've posted an updated site.

I made it a little bigger (955x720 VS 800x600)
I put the demo's right on the first page.
Gave the background a slight gradient to push the box further out.
I cleaned up the drawing to eliminate the edges that showed up on some monitors....

I'm going to stick with the chimp for a while, I could change it to a howler monkey, and may do that... But since I'm called Monk, even though I'm an ape... well.. hmm.

Tomato's aren't vegetables. They're fruits.

It's funny, being a mac guy, I think that EVERYONE has quicktime.

they don't! (savages)

so I changed the player to a javascript/flash affair.

Now even my friends with PC's and no quicktime can enjoy more me.

www.monksvoice.com is ready for the launch I think.....

Monk I understand you. I don't do windows in my house or on my computer.
I hear Quicktime can be a problem for some browsers. Oh well live and learn.

Monk:
Demos on the front page are great! I like that player, but I'm getting "error opening file".

Larger size is a boo-boo vertically. 600px high, max. 900 px wide is fine.
You don't want people to have to scroll on your splash page.

I am not a fan of the chimp, myself. I know it's your "mascot" but I'm not interested, as a casting person, in someone who links his demos to a beast that flings poo when he's mad.

If you must describe your voice, please eliminate the elipses.
"He just may be the voice you're hearing"?
I'm not sure what that means.

Sorry to be blunt— I think you're a capable guy. I don't think spelt-out descriptions are necessary— they are almost always a turn-off. When I listen to your demos, I'll know you're the guy I can trust.

Deirdre,

Okie, I can scale things to fit that 900x600 no problem. I can ditch the elipses...

(pun intended)

I'm concerned about the error opening file. I've tried it on several machines and haven't received an error, if you can't hear the demo's the site is useless.

Musta been a temporary glitch—I can hear them now.

I honestly like the impact of your
MONK
VOICE ACTOR
STORYTELLER

and think that says it all.

Any explanatory text diminishes it.

That works for me, I'll be able to work on changes on Sunday.

I'll also look for a real monkey. Since a chimp isn't a monk. A capuchin monkey is a monkey and named after Monks...

Hmmmmm I could cover both bases there. A monk's monkey.

Smile
