I know of discmakers and mixonic, but does anyone know of other good places to get an audiobook created? I'm trying to help out an author whom I hope to narrate for and the best price he can get is $36 per 8-disc package, which is way high for wholesale.

Any ideas?

Check out http://www.lulu.com. All kinds of self-publishing options there. I used their Disc Cost Calculator and it spit up these figures for eight discs:

Manufacturing cost per unit: $4.50
Total manufacturing cost: $29.52
Bulk discount: 18%
Orders over 5 discs receive a bulk discount.

The nice thing is that you don't have to mess with inventory because they produce orders on demand.

No, that calculator is for how many single discs you want to make. He wants to make 8-disc sets for an audiobook.

Odd...I was sure that Lulu had an option for publishing multi-disc products. Gotta dig deeper, as I have an old two-disc data product that's nearly out of stock, and I was thinking of moving it to Lulu.
