Getting right to the point, I've a demo session scheduled with the Amazing Nancy in LA and have been advised to consider Source-Connect as the alternative to a very pricey trip (I've a zoo @ home + other costs that make it less easy to travel) or local ISDN costs. So I'm exploring the idea that this Source Connect thing might be a good investment for future applications (ISDN bridging, etc).
Though I think I already know the answer: Is it foolish to believe there is enough quality in the SC Standard version (96mono) to justify purchase when the funds aren't there for the Pro version? I get really nervous when I see such a low bitrate limitation, but my current expenditure ceiling's preventing me from throwing down for Pro.
Please forgive my redundancy if this has already been completely answered in past threads.... Thanks SO much for taking time to help!

Chadd,
I've done pro voiceover work using my Standard Source Connect. The audio quality is quite remarkable, mainly because the compression is much more efficient than the older MP2 and MP3 used by ISDN codecs. _________________ Be well,

Bob,
Thanks so very much... I hope you'll forgive my ignorance.
Follow-up question: Would it then be correct to assume that putting the signal thru an ISDN bridge would again compress the audio, perhaps too much? (open to all...)
VERY Appreciative!!

Chadd,
I would imagine the full answer to that question depends on how the audio is being routed by the company doing the bridge. I can say that before I had my ISDN service re-installed, I did a Source Connect to ISDN bridge and the studio on the other end was very happy with the audio. _________________ Be well,

I can speak for outofhear.com, since I built it. All Zephyrs are cross patched via balanced patchbay directly to I/O for Pro Tools. It is a very clean system.
We've had no complaints about loss of audio quality through the chain.
Is there a degrade in quality? Of course, considering all the A/D's and compression going on. Is it good enough for commercials, promos, and trailers? Apparently so! _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.
