I've seen solicitation for VO talent to do stingers, sweeps and bumpers.
I know what sweeps are, but what is being asked for, in terms of vo demo's?

They're looking for your station imaging demo. It's usually a combination of one liners like, "You're listening to Hot 103---the rock giant of the hot south," station promos, stuff like that. Ya voice all their liners and sweepers, which are used to segue between different styles or tempos of music. Unfortunately, they're usually looking for Mitch Phillips, bass types. Me I'm yer basic mid-range baritone . No such worky for me. |

If I recall correctly:
"Bumpers" are at the front and back end of stop sets.
Sweepers are between tunes.
Stingers are production elements used at the end of a bit. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

When they say "can you?" You say yes.
When they say "have you ever?" You say absolutely.
Then when they give you the script, you read it.
As a profession, we've established what we are  , all that's left is the fee negotiations. _________________ - Peter

If you need imaging demos CJ Wilson is an amazing imaging producer. Drop her email at prodhopper@aol.com. She does first class work, there's a couple other names I can forward if you need more aggressive imaging done....

Couple of things about imaging work. Firstly, you MUST have your own (or instant access to) studio. Studio costs are not included in your cost. They usually want 24 hr. turnaround. You work through retainer (which varies with market size) usually month to month. You are also expected to voice their promos, which can be any length (e.g. - 90 seconds), and that will include sponsors of the contest, that will not be considered 'commercial' announcing. I've produced imaging for several stations that range from $60 per month (Dauphin, Manitoba) to $2000 per month ("E" in Sri Lanka). Sometimes you get 2 pages of script every 2 weeks, or sometimes 2 pages every 3 days. Can be good work, though you WILL work for it.
Just so ya know.
