VO-BB - 20 YEARS OLD!

There is a downside to being a Voice Overist who insists on publicising everything short of his most recent bowel movement as one discovered late last night.

2345 - Phone rings.

"Hello, Philip Banks"

"ish that Bankshee?"

"Yes. Who's this?"

"Ne'er mind that................................" What followed was a drunken critique of every aspect of my life, work and future life and work. "WELL?"

"Ok, thank you. You forgot to tell me your name"

"I didn't forget!" End of phone call. I thought for a moment and then quickly checked a demo on a VO site which took me to a website and (FANFARE) a telephone number!

"Hello"

"Hi, it's Philip Banks you called me a moment ago and we got cut off"

" **** YOU!!"

Not the best attempt at a denial I've experienced.

I suppose with a little Dutch Courage it was easier for him to confront and blame someone over whom he had no control rather than confront the truth.

Looking beyond the funny side of the ridiculous outburst I honestly believe there's a heartbroken man out there. Is the desire to be a Voice Over worth damaging yourself emotionally? No.

LOL... my husband bought a $25K Maseratti Quatroporte once on eBay... by accident.

He had not been drinking. I can't imagine the damage he would do if he did shop/drink. Oh my.

(BTW, he was able to get himself out of the purchase and keep his wonderful rating. The car was in the UK, and friends of ours there went to check it out and found another buyer. Thank God.)

It's amazing how upset people get about their demos. You'll never make it in VO if you can't handle critique. Ick.

That said, drinking and QVC don't mix either.

Seriously, I've gotten the occasional call from some kid that found my site and calls my number to see if its real... stuff like that. But NEVER a drunken verbal roasting. Ick. Sick
