From Las Vegas to Champaign, IL is 1,000 miles. Oddly enough, Kansas is 850 of those miles.
My oldest daughter moves into her first off-campus apartment this Fall. We've been busy on Craigslist, and cobbled together a mini-van full of mis-matched furniture.
So Dad and daughter leave in the minivan Thursday morning for our road trip. When we get there, guess who'll be moving all that furniture up a rickety, fire-escape-type, wooden, 3rd-story staircase? Yep!
I've even found a buddy to drive back with me those same 1,000 miles a few days later...the van loaded with sundry items from the family farm in Illinois, including a 200-yr-old spinning wheel my mother left me.
I'm traveling light...but relying on my iPhone equipped with a Blue Mikey and the PODDIO a for auditions, and a Zoom H4 if it gets serious. I figure maybe even the Starbucks in Dodge City, KS will have free wi-fi.
At any rate, I'll try to post pics of the trip as I go. Good bonding time for dad/daughter... but basically, it's a.... ROAD TRIP!!!!!
Which, when you think about it, is a phrase that makes about as much sense as "voice-talking".

Drive safely and enjoy every minute of it! We love road trips and plan to take one later this year. The best is taking your time and hitting interesting spots that pop up along the way!
Also- please do give a review of the Mikey- I was just looking at those. _________________ Threadjackers local 420

Road trips are fun! Hope you have a great time.
One thing that caught my eye: the Mikey with an iPhone? I didn't know that would work... |

How cool Dave. I look back on my "which college do I want to go to" road trip with my dad with the fondest of memories - four days, three states, four colleges and lots of daddy daughter time to just be together. What great memories.....prayers for a safe journey and loads of memories in the making for you and your daughter. Careful hauling all that furniture, dude! Don't throw your back out! _________________ Moe Egan

David, Have a wonderful road trip. I remember when I moved into my dorm. The most difficult part was saying goodbye to my parents who were standing there with tears in their eyes. I was an only child. |
