I'm sure you've heard the story of the father trying to do some office work while at home and his 8 year old daughter is bored.
"Let's do something" she whines. This is the 456th protest so Dad decides he needs to distract her with something that will take a while. Reaching under the coffee table he pulls out a jigsaw puzzle, it's a map of the world.
"Here you are Sweetie, put this jigsaw together for me".
"Mmmm okay"
The little girl pours the pieces on the floor and gets to work. Dad is feeling rather smug and doesn't expect to hear much from his daughter until she reaches her late teens. Peace at last to work in peace as his 8 year old works on the pieces.
About 90 minutes pass.
"Let's do something" whines the little girl.
"You need to finish the jigsaw puzzle first" says Dad.
"I'VE DONE THAT!" announces the daughter. Dad looks on the floor and sure enough one map of the world, complete.
"How did you do that?" asks Dad.
"On the back of the jigsaw was a picture of a man so I made sure the man was put together ok and the world took care of itself"
One of my following twits regularly posts a link to her horoscope and today I read it and looked at mine. Ignoring the usual "now is a good time to become an axe murderer because you can blame the full moon" one line really made me think. NowI AM able to do that, indeed, I should.
"Instead of trying to change anything in your environment, concentrate on your own attitude. When it improves, so will everything else."
The above is my project for the coming week or as long as it takes. |

I vividly remember several years ago walking down the hall to my previous corporate job, muttering to myself as I was walking "I hate my job." Suddenly it hit me what I was doing to myself, derailing my entire day before it really got underway. From that moment I determined to myself that I was say "I love my job" while I walked that hallway every day, no matter how I "felt" about the subject.
Making that one decision made it possible for me to remain at peace and sane until I was able (in May of this year) to finally walk away from the corporate world permanently.
Thank you, Philip, for the excellent reminder today. _________________ Be well,

Bob reminds of a saying I heard many years ago.
"If you hate your job, then quit. If you can't quit, then shutup." _________________ Jeff

Thanks for sharing that Philip. I actually saw this quote today:
Keep your thoughts positive because your thoughts become your words. Keep your words positive because your words become your behaviors. Keep your behaviors positive because your behaviors become your habits. Keep your habits positive because your habits become your values. Keep your values positive because your values become your destiny.--, Ghandi..

Day 5 - When asked for help by a friend you help without question. When you question a friend about a request for help they're just someone you know. |

Which reminds me of the quote, "A good friend won't turn you in for murder. A best friend will help you bury the body."
I think that was from The Godfather 3 or 4.
