I give up ... been holding out .... but now need to get a Blackberry or something similar. There are 70 gazillion flavors - too many choices - even though I'm limited to what's on Verizon's network.
Anyone have one you're wildly happy with? |

Most reliable I've seen on Verizon would be to pick up a used Palm Treo 700W/X (the Windows version, not PalmOS). You can pick up a used/refurb one for around $50. _________________ David Swinehart

I'm on Verizon. I have an LG Voyager, and I love it. I don't know if they still offer this particular phone, but I'm sure they have a smiliar, newer version. I tried the Blackberry in the store, but for me, the keyboard and the type were just too small.
The thing it doesn't have that Crackberries do have is the ability to read/open Word and Excel docs, I believe. But, I do have internet access, email access, a GPS (so handy) and it doubles as my mp3 player now. It has TV capability too, but I don't subscribe to that.
The LG Voyager can be seen here: http://reviews.cnet.com/cell-phones/lg-voyager-vx10000-verizon/4505-6454_7-32640927.html
Edited to add: my husband always buys refurbed phones on eBay when he needs a new one. I think he has a Palm Treo now, as a matter of fact. _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!

I recommend the Palm
I unplugged the BB and turn on an old LG. Unhappy with Verizon and will jump ship when contract is up.
Ex AT&T I worked in the Cell Tower shop where first cell tower equipment was produced. Most likely I will go back to AT&T after all they invented it.
Got the BB because I believed it would do what a Palm would do. It didn't. Have had two Palms and I like them. Next will be a Palm for sure. I have several applications for Palm that I miss using. _________________ Esse quam videri "To be rather than to seem"

I originally used a Handspring A (remember them?) then decided I wanted my phone and A in the same device. So I've been using Blackberries for the past 4 years, first a Pearl, now a Curve. The Pearl has one of the abbreviated keyboards where you rely on predictive typing, but a few of the keys eventually became unresponsive due to overuse. I switched to a Curve last spring and like it very much. Compared to an iPhone it's pretty far down on the Wow Meter, but it receives emails pretty much immediately, and the calendar syncs fine with my Outlook 2003.

I picked up a BB Storm right when they came out and have been pretty happy with it. With the latest firmware updates, it is very stable and functions great.
If you are an old hat at BB, you may not like the virtual keyboard, but me having never had a BB before, I'm fine with it. _________________ Try to imagine a world where there is no such thing as hypothetical situations.

I should prob'ly get a newfangled space phone, but it would just fall into a mud puddle or something. I'm, uh, outside a lot .. and have a G'z One, or as the DH puts it, the HumVee of phones. It bounces! |

My Blackberry Curve has withstood massive abuse for a year and half so far. I like the tactile keyboard, but next year i'm likely to dump Verizon and switch to an iPhone (if iPhone works on Verizon by then i'll stick with Verizon).
I see the iPhone as a device you can potentially use to record, edit, and upload VO. Imagine being able to work wherever you go, all the time.. without carrying a computer around.. a blessing, or a curse ? _________________ Jeff Berlin

The best use I've seen of "smart phones" is a) increased access to information and b) increased ability to communicate via new media.
Being able to access Google Maps, Wikipedia, IMDB, etc helps during lunch conversations when you wonder "Should I turn here?", "How far could an unladened swallow fly?" or "Who was that guy in that movie where the stuff happened?". For me, it helps mitigate my really bad memory. Whereas I would normally try to file that information away and look it up later, with a smart phone I can look it up on the spot and get it out of my brain.
If you frequent Twitter, Facebook, et. al and your social circle does the same, it allows easier co-ordination and communication with your peeps during events. A perfect example of this is the pervasive use of Twitter at SXSW to arrange meetups for food, drinks, parties, etc. If you or your in-group are not large users of social media, this will likely be less important to you.
I'm in the market for a real smart phone (I have a Moto Q that barely fits the definition) and, as soon as one is available on Verizon (my preferred cell provider), I'll likely give in to my geek lust and get one. Current candidates are Palm Pre, some Android variant or the iPad (presuming it isn't too bulky to be used as a phone and comes out with a reasonable data plan from VZW). |

Palm Treo Pro... Hands down the best SmartPhone / BlackBerry type device that I've every used, and I've used a bunch of them...
I'm not sure if it's available on your network, but buy one unlocked and you'll be happy as a clam! _________________ Brian Forrester Voice Overs

I agree completely with Brian. I love my Palm Treo Pro. And if you like you can see mine in action while we're here at the Summit, Melissa. _________________ Be well,

Well, Jeff, the future is here.
iPhone: There's a mic for that.

From what I hear, it is decent enough for auditions. Room ambiance is still a factor. |

The manual doesn't list the iphone or itouch as being compatible with the Mikey. Anyone have real world experience with this? |
