OK, maybe you are wondering what the heck this has to do with gear, right?
I thought it might be fun to let you all help me pick out the gear we'll be installing in the studios I am designing for the SAG Foundation. Like shopping with other people's money as much as I do? Give me your ideas, favorites, must haves, or just encouragement.
If you don't know what the SAG Foundation is, here is their website.
Here's a rundown on the facility:
We'll have one main studio booth where up to four performers can work comfortably together for group reads as well as ADR. This studio will have a control room/class room attached to it, and a large flat panel monitor for working to picture. There will also be a small solo booth where actors can record un-attended, working on auditions whenever they please.
I already have an idea of what mics, preamps, DAW, headphones, mic stands, pop screens, etc I'd like to use, but why not let you guys have at it?
If enough people chime in about a product I hadn't considered, or just didn't think of, I will add it to the list. We'll be working hard to get as many manufacturers to donate products to the cause as possible, as the Foundation is a non-profit organization there to support the acting community 100%.
Let the games begin! _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

I think it would be a true DLF studio lab if you can reproduce his home studio setup with all the pres and mics and equipment he had. A tribute studio so to speak.
If there's a way to install ISDN in the booth for unattended sessions where clients call in, direct and record on their end, that would be a good feature for talents without ISDN. |

Nice ideas, Eddie!
I will run by the idea of having ISDN in the small booth with the board as we have a meeting tonight.
Tribute studio, hmmm... I now we will have the same mic he used, for sure! _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.
