... of an expert in the VO industry; which when answered would be beneficial to ALL VO artists, what would it be?
I am doing some research to find out what "we" as an industry most want to know.
If you choose not to post your question, please email me privately.

I wonder if people are having the same problem as me. I've been sitting here for about 10 minutes and couldn't think of a single question to ask. |

Yep. Same problem here. All the questions coming to mind are fairly unique to my personal circumstances. Can't think of anything that I feel would be universally beneficial. _________________ Justin S. Barrett

I'd like to know an estimate of how many voice overs were recorded in the US in 2008, and possibly compare that to how many were recorded in 1998 or 2000.
I'd also like to know if the demand for voice overs is going up or down as a part of creative decision making, independent of recessionary factors.
Thirdy, I'd like to know how many people claiming to be voice overists are out there in the US.
Fourthly, I want to know where's my flying car? _________________ Skype: globalvoiceover

What can we do as a group to educate clients as to what we do? The difference between quality work and bad work and what it will or will not do for the client? It may be a matter of bringing voice acting farther into the forefront. Not sure. |

Well, you didn't think I would ask an easy question, did you?
Oh, and Dave's not here...
So, here is an example of some universal questions which have been asked:
"How does a VO/VA make first contact with potential customers?"
"Do you use an agent or several agents exclusively to find customers?"
"Is a career in voice over still viable considering the economy in the USA and the large amount of business failures or consolidations?"
"What form of marketing should a VO/VA use (i.e: cold calls, cold email, postcards, e-blasts, luck of the draw...)?"
I believe we all have similar questions about our industry ranging from queries about equipment and software, to training, agents, unions, to how to get more business, etc. With this concept in mind I always tend to go back to one of the biggest questions people in sales (and we are salespeople) often fail to ask their customers and clients: "Would you refer me or my business to a friend"?
What are "we" missing by not soliciting an answer? For the article I am researching i will not be using names or stories... just the thoughts proposed.
Thanks for the help!
