To me the purest of electric guitar sounds, and a true studio genius.
There will never be another.

Guitars around the world are gently weeping. He will be truly missed. I loved the albums with him and Chet Atkins. |

never mind the guitars...it's the multi-track recorders where the genius was truly unique. even people who never dug les's music (and i did) have benefitted from his ideas and innovation. _________________ rowell gormon

As a student learning audio engineering, I came to love Les Paul and his innovations. He lived a wonderfully long and productive life and is one of the people we, in this house, will tell our children about. Rock on, Les Paul. _________________ 006 member of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Mic. Bonded by sound.

My friend Bill had the pleasure of being in the audience at Iridium club in NY for a couple of Les Paul's regular Monday night sets (which he continued to do pretty much up to the end). He urged me to take a field trip to the city to do the same, but I foolishly never got around to it. Now it's too late.
Glad I got to see Brubeck one more time earlier this summer.
Les Paul was one of a kind -- or two of a kind, or three of a kind, or eight of a kind, depending upon how many tracks he laid down. But, of course, that was his idea, wasn't it? _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

I had a '73 Gold Top Les Paul guitar, which I kick myself constantly for selling. It remains my all time favorite guitar . . . and heaviest. |

Not only were Les and Mary spring chickens in that clip, so was a dapper young Alistair Cooke, one of the great voice overists of all time. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

Wow! That's a sweet video. It's amazing to think of all that's happened since those days. I'm glad to finally know who to thank (besides Imogen Heap) for this performance. _________________ Justin S. Barrett

Liz, what a way cool link... the things we might take for granted. That was so neat.

I'll add my thanks to Liz for that link. One of my FAVORITE songs of all time. And I've always said - I'd give my right arm to be able to play guitar like that _________________ "When I was your age, we had to dial to get online"
