Every once in a while I'll catch a missed edit or inconsistent pronunciation in an audiobook, but yesterday I heard my first spoonerism in one. What was really sad is that in spite of the fact that it was so subtle, I found myself listening to it over and over again to be sure I was hearing what I was hearing.

The character was in a rather dangerous situation and began reciting the Hail Mary. When the narrator got to the part "Blessed art thou among women..." it came out "Blessed thart ou among women". At first I though he may have said "Blessed thou art...", which is why I kept going back to check again.

I don't even know why I'm mentioning this, except to remark that it's amazing there aren't more flubs that get through when one considers the volume of work involved in recording an audiobook. Kudos to the narrators (and the directors).

That is all. Smile

I'm not sure that I've heard flubs in audiobooks before, but I've seen interesting flubs in printed books from time to time. Probably the biggest out-in-the-open flub I saw was a really low-res JPEG image on a cereal box. It was pretty obvious that it was not a creative decision, and if I remember correctly it was a pretty big brand name.
