Dinner yesterday evening at The Cullen Bay Hotel. Lovely affair, five of us sat around the table. Both Bob and Deebs are able to testify to the environment and quality of the food.
Peter and his wife Jacquie live in Leicester so were struggling a bit when speaking to the hotel staff. No one tried to be politically correct, we were laughing at them not with them and they didn't mind in the least. The conversation was filled with laughter and the topics changed about every two or three minutes.
What topic got the loudest laughs and had people reaching for the tissues to wipe away the tears? If you're reading this, it was YOU. The figure of fun was you, needless to say as a Voiceoverist too by association the figure of fun was me. I offered advice to the non-Voiceoverist on how to behave when meeting a Voiceoverist, explaining that most us, like cigarette packets, should display a clear warning. If networking works within a few weeks the entire world will know how to avoid a Voiceoverists and how to cut one down to size should they refuse to SHUT THE **** UP!
We collectively decided that I should write a book, it should be about Voiceoverism and the title "My obsession well beyond the borders of the ridiculous."
I have the basis of a 15 minute stand-up routine for Voice2010 but I won't hold my breath while waiting for the invitation to perform it.

I found the video extra funny because I had high tea with Mollie Sugden many years ago when she was here promoting an anniversary version of her show for the local PBS station. She was very funny and told a particularly funny and raunchy story to the tea sippers which I love re-telling, but you won't hear it from me unless you drag it out of me. So there.
The old saw is that being at a cocktail party filled with doctors is the most hideously boring place to be. But I learned that isn't true when I got into radio. With doctors you have at least a fair chance of knowing the disease or condition they're talking about before they kill you with the details. Radio people talk about disc jockeys and crazy moments on the air that virtually nobody else knows or cares about. I mean I loved those gatherings, but spouses and girlfriends were contemplating suicide or homicide well within the first hour of such soirées.
I'm sure we voiceoverists are much the same. Thankfully for our friends and families our herding activities are rare.

Philip is quite right. The best haggis I've ever had. Of course, it's also (so far) the only haggis I've ever had, but nevertheless it was a wonderfully delicious meal. The only thing better than the service and the food was the pleasure of sharing the experience with Mr. and Mrs. Banks. _________________ Be well,
