I'm looking for a contact management system that sits on the desktop-- not a web a. In addition to the usual, want it to allow me to sort contacts by type or group, and for people to be able to be in more than one group. I need mail merge, and the ability to print address labels for groups or contact categories. If it would also sync with my BlackBerry, I might burst into song.

I don't want anything "simple." I want it to be fancy and full-features, with cool graphics.
And Patrick-- I'm taking requests! _________________ the Amy Snively family of brands for all your branded thing needs.

You might look at Intellect from Chaos software. I use and adore their Time & Chaos but Intellect is for people who want full integration with email. If you have questions about it (like the mailing label thing - I don't know about that) you can call them - their customer service is wonderful. |

I explored a couple of options last December (one created for actors... I didn't like it, as well as the ACT and Access options) , and QuickBooks Customer Manager came out on top for me. I love it... it does mailing labels, etc. You can sort by type of client (which you can set up yourself). There used to be a free 30 day trial on their site. Software is about $75, as I recall.
I've recommended it to a friend who used ACT as her db, and she loves it too. _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!

I use ACT 10, and it's pretty full featured. It will do mail merge including email. In addition to the standard fields the program provides you can add additional fields for your own needs.
The problem I have with it now though is that it won't allow you to change the port your email is sent through. My Internet carrier - Comcast - recently started blocking port 25 because the port is commonly used by spammers. ACT defaults to port 25 with no ability to change it.
I found a way to work around it, but it's pain. I had to download Thunderbird email along with a plug in that allows you to mail merge. Then in ACT, I create a lookup, export that as a text file, import it to Thunderbird and then send it. It's not pretty, but it works. _________________ Tim McLaughlin

I also use ACT and it's great for sending mass emails and printing labels, among other things. I highly recommend it! _________________ Tom Dheere - The "H" is Silent, but I'm Not!
