I have one cat who has knocked over my mic stand more than once. Time to bump up that insurance.
Appreciate the thread - another thing to think about. _________________ Playing for a living...

I can't count the number of times I've whacked my head on the mic. Then again, I seem to whack my head on lots of stuff. _________________ Tim McLaughlin

Watch it Tim. If you hurt yourself badly enough you'll have to sue yourself. |

Melissa, I'll bet there's a lawyer out there somewhere who would take the case. _________________ Tim McLaughlin

Sadly, I jest not.
Recently, Wells Fargo sued itself in a foreclosure case where they were both first and second lien holders. The bank hired a FL law firm to file the suit and another firm to defend itself against it.
Our TARP dollars at work.

Thanks for the replies. So far I've consulted with three local agents and online insurers of technical/freelance workers and none of them will insure a voice over talent. They don't see the point in this either.
Any advice would be appreciated. _________________ Skype: globalvoiceover

What form is your business? (sole prop, LLC, corp, etc.?) Maybe if you're a sole prop, that's the issue. But, really, I should think that SOMEONE would be willing to take your money for general liability. I mean, we're talking insurance companies.
My policy, by the way, is through State Farm. |

Maybe you just need a general liability "umbrella" policy on top of your home policy. They only kick in when you're regular liability can't cover a claim and so they're quite cheap.

Two different State Farm agents said no. The good news is I wrote to my client about the troubles I was having trying to get this insurance, and they've agreed to waive it. That means the contract gets signed on Monday, and I'm a very happy camper. _________________ Skype: globalvoiceover

Good news Lance.
FYI - two commercial studios I've owned were both insured through The Hartford, one of the few companies that insure recording studios.
It costs $500 a year. _________________ www.asapaudio.com |
